About us
Thank you for your interest in the KrugerExplorer App and website – we are thrilled that you may want to use it during your safari to Kruger National Park and hope you have an amazing experience, whether part of an organised group or doing a self-drive safari.
‘We’ are Danny and Charlotte. Danny has worked on reserves in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and is a life-long, passionate safari-goer. He has been visiting Kruger National Park for nearly 20-years and has also been fortunate enough to visit many other safari destinations in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania and Uganda, as well track wildlife in places like Borneo, India and Sri Lanka. Charlotte caught the ‘Africa bug’ after travelling to South Africa and then Namibia with Danny several years ago. She has worked for technology firms and in the digital field for over 10-years, bringing amazing experience to the KrugerExplorer project.
The idea for the KrugerExplorer App evolved during a 12-hour drive through the stunning desert scenery of Damaraland in Namibia. It started as an idea to help visitors to Kruger work out the bewildering number of camp and road options available in the park. Realising that many of us drive around Kruger with half a library of expensive books in our cars also highlighted the need for a 21st-century resource that was sensibly priced and played the combined role of map, routes guide, field guide, sightings list and information to help plan a trip to Kruger.
A passion project was born and it has been an amazing journey, involving a huge amount of learning and even more hours and late nights to get the KrugerExplorer App off the ground.

All the best
Danny & Charlotte
Our partners
But we would not have even reached the start-line without help from friends and family, plus our key partners:
On the technology side, we are indebted to Appy Venture in the UK. The Appy Ventures team were able to bring all of their coding and app knowledge to the fore and help us build such a beautiful and easy-to-use application.
The stunning KrugerExplorer maps were created by the brilliant Linda McKenzie of Digital Earth in Nelspruit, South Africa. Linda’s patience with getting it ‘just right’ was crucial and the end results have elevated the routes and maps sections of the App beyond what we thought possible.
A massive thank you to all of our friends and family who have contributed, proof-read, encouraged or simply listened to the challenges we’ve overcome to get the KrugerExplorer App off the ground.
