Perfect for couples and honeymooners looking for a romantic getaway, relaxation and exclusivity is at the heart of this lodge. Take a dip in the infinity pool, unwind at the open-air bar or simply immerse yourself with a good read in our comfortable library.
Intimate and tastefully decorated interiors complement the beauty of the African bush, allowing guests to revive and indulge in all that Misava has to offer.
Formerly known as Angela’s, Misava Safari Camp is one of the original and oldest camps in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. It was originally purchased in 1936 by Edwin Crookes and renamed after his daughter, Angela. In 1997 it was purchased by the current owner and transformed into a self-catered camp for local guests. Finally, in 2019, Misava underwent significant renovations to become the intimate, luxurious camp it is today.
The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve was established in 1969 and officially proclaimed a nature reserve in 1972. In 1994 the fences came down between the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, the Kruger National Park and its associated Reserves. The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve comprises 60,000 hectares of diverse topography and forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. It attracts a huge variety of fauna and flora including the big five.

Types of accommodation
Klaserie Drift Safari Camps Misava boasts two luxury accommodation options.
Misava River View
With endless views of the iconic Klaserie river, you’ll be forgiven for not wanting to leave after a stay in one of our River view suites. Ideal for a romantic celebration or just to add that extra bit of luxury to your stay, these suites offer the height of privacy and exclusivity. Lofty thatched roofs framed by wooden beams, natural wooden furniture and muted earth tones lend a spacious but warm feeling to each individually styled suite.
Misava, meaning ‘earth’ in the local Shangaans language, encompasses the soothing browns and ochres of the savanna whilst Mati, or water, comprises the delicate blues and greens of the river. Guests can expect air-conditioning, ceiling fans and tea and coffee facilities as standard, with the added bonus of your own dedicated WiFi, private deck and luxurious indoor and outdoor showers. Art materials and a yoga mat are supplied for guests to truly unwind and enjoy the natural beauty around them.
Each suite can be arranged as a twin or king and can easily accommodate an additional bed as a perfect option for families or groups booking together.
Misava Garden View
Our elegant garden-view suites are a charming fusion of traditional African style with modern luxury. Steeped in history, they maintain the classic shape of the original camp rondavels, with added opulence in the form of an en-suite bathroom and private deck overlooking the lodge gardens. Each individually styled suite features beautiful thatch roofing and soft, organic decor to harmonise perfectly with the surrounding nature.
Kwetsima, meaning ‘spirit’ in the local Shangaans language, epitomises purity and cleanliness with crisp whites and cool greys whereas moya, or ‘air’, highlights the soft pastel yellows and blues of the morning sky. Lastly, _ndzilo_, meaning ‘fire’ , perfectly encapsulate the warmth of Africa with deep burgundy and amber. Guests can expect air-conditioning, ceiling fans and tea and coffee facilities as standard, as well as art materials and a yoga mat to nurture your mind and body.
Each suite can be arranged as a twin or king and our new, inter-connecting suites are a perfect option for families or groups booking together.
Klaserie Drift Safari Camps Misava is situated in the north of Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which shares open borders with the neighbouring Kruger National Park and Timbavati, Umbabat and Balule private reserves.
The nearest Kruger gate is Orpen (103km), while the nearest town is Hoedspruit (51km). Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (36km) is ideally located, while Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (187km) is accessible. Flights and transfers from the airport can be arranged.
