About Skukuza rest camp

Skukuza could be considered the 'capital' of Kruger National Park as it is the administrative centre for SANParks' operations as well as being the largest camp in the park by some distance.

The amenities and facilities include a pool, spa, high-end restaurants and a wonderful location overlooking the Sabie River.  The newly renovated Shalati Station section of the rest camp adds tasteful food, shop and activity options while remaining sensitive to the history of the area.  In the vicinity is the Skukuza 9-hole golf course and Skukuza Airport, providing convenient transport links.

The downside to Skukuza is that it can get busy with visitors both inside the camp and out on the neighbouring roads, giving a rather different feel to some of the more remote camps in the north of the park.

The wildlife opportunities nearby, however, are excellent, with the local habitats supporting Big 5 and many other large game species.  Birding is outstanding and Skukuza gives easy access to the very special Lake Panic Hide.  Just expect to share sightings with other visitors.  You could always consider splitting your trip to spend some nights in a quieter corner of Kruger if you are planning on staying in Skukuza as well.

There is an extensive array of accommodation options available within the rest camp too.
